There are numerous archives of music in Africa, recorded from back in colonial times up until today.
Much of this music was recorded onto perishable storage media, like magnetic tapes. These tapes are not everlasting. Quite on the contrary. They deteriorate with time, and soon many unique and valuable music recordings may be lost.
To save important parts of Africa's cultural heritage, we must act fast. We must save many as possible of these recordings for posterity.
